Discover the art of millinery and craft a one-of-a-kind, ethereal headpiece in this hands-on weekend workshop. Using sinamay straw, a beautifully lightweight and sculptural material straw woven in the Philippines, you’ll learn to shape and style a fascinator that’s as unique as you are.

Guided by expert instruction, you’ll master the blocking technique to mold your hat, ensuring a perfect custom fit. Then, explore the creative possibilities of Sinamay—cut, wire, shape and assemble delicate forms to build an airy, eye-catching design. Whether you're drawn to elegant curves, dramatic angles, or a whisper of movement, this workshop will give you the skills to bring your vision to life.

Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike—come ready to experiment, create, and leave with a stunning fascinator that turns heads!

Basic hand-stitching skills desired, but not required. We won’t be using the sewing machine.

Step into the world of sculptural millinery and learn how to transform Jinsin, a beautifully woven straw fabric, into a striking hat. Also known as Buntal, this unique material is crafted from the fine fibers of unopened talipot palm tree stalks and handwoven in the Philippines. With its ability to hold bold, fluid curves, Jinsin is perfect for creating elegant, architectural headwear.
After viewing an inspirational slideshow, you’ll discover how to shape, sculpt, and manipulate Jinsin to design a custom piece that blends style and sun protection. Whether you prefer a dramatic turban or a chic, minimalist visor, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with this dynamic material.

Outcome: Walk away with a beautifully crafted, ready-to-wear Jinsin hat or visor—perfect for sunny days with a touch of artistic flair.

Step into the world of millinery and discover the magic of Freeform Blocking. In this immersive two-day workshop, you'll learn how to sculpt a one-of-a-kind felt hat using nothing but steam, your hands, and creativity—no sewing experience required!
After viewing an inspirational slideshow, create a 1920s Cloche, a timeless Fedora, or a chic Cocktail Hat. Shape and mold a pre-formed fur felt cone over a standard wooden hat block. With expert guidance, you’ll manipulate, refine, and hand-stitch your hat to achieve a flawless, custom fit that complements your personal style.
Perfect for beginners and hat lovers alike, this hands-on class will leave you with a beautifully crafted, wearable Art Deco styled masterpiece. Students will also receive step-by-step notes with a resource guide so that they can continue experimenting on their own with this technique.
